Tin Man Documentary Video

Cheers to Documentary Video

Get to know some of the folks that were Tin Man Brewing Co. with this documentary video. Using a mixture of “behind-the-scenes” footage and interviews, you’ll learn just a little bit about the history but gain a lot of insight into the dynamic personalities and unique people and processes that founded this brewery and restaurant once located on Evansville’s west side.

Certainly a passion project for my friend and producer Jordan Barclay, this video was shot over the course of about 18 months and features at least 3 different cameras and many, many hours worth of footage. While I was editing this project, especially in the early stages, I began to think of it as similar to a sculptor’s task. Somewhere, in the midst of all that footage, is the form or the essence of the figure you are trying to bring out. With each successive trimming, cutting and re-arranging of shots, the heart of the story began to take shape. And while there was enough content to make it much longer, I felt my main task as editor, was combining or distilling (pun intended) it down into the purest form it could take. Or – at least that analogy sounds apropos upon reflection now.  😉
Matching multiple brands and formats of cameras on each of the interviews and all of the shots under various lighting conditions actually became the more difficult task during color correction. But I really enjoy watching this one and how it turned out. And I really feel it helps you get to know Tin Man Brewing, so it’s as much a marketing or branding video as it is a documentary. I know that there are always more facets that get left out in every story ever told. But the positive side to that reality is that it means there are always more stories to tell. Hope you enjoy this one as much as I do and that you will support your local brewers and businesses.

Music track is “Can’t Whistle At The Phone” by Thunder/Dreamer.  You can view more of Jordan’s work at his website.

Proud to report that this video won a 2017 Silver Addy Award at the AAF of Greater Evansville.
