If you are naturally curious like me, then you may wonder what happens to your recyclables that you set out at your curb each week.  After all, you put paper, glass, plastic, etc. all in one large container.  How does all that stuff get separated anyway? For those of us who live in cities with curbside recycling, the one container system is frankly intriguing.  Is is magical elves that comb through all that stuff? Well, watch this industrial video and you’ll have at least part of the answer visually explained to you.

This may have been a bit of a dirty job, but it was an interesting one.  This trade-show video was produced for SC Environmental, a recycling systems and equipment company that uses it to promote one of their small, single-stream recycling systems.  Because it was created to use in a  trade-show booth, where having voice over narration can get in the way of interacting with interested customers, it’s a perfect example of visual storytelling.  Simple & straight forward, with minimal graphics, it shows the target audience what this system does – which is mechanically separate each category of recyclable material.  Perhaps you’ll think of it the next time you push your recycle bin to the curb.  :-).
