This promotional video was shot over just a few hours on-site at cMoe and then later edited for a quick turn-around deadline.  Created specifically for the first ever Creativity Forum sponsored by the Children’s Museum in Evansville, the graphic / text elements were provided by board member and volunteer Patricia Weinzapfel.  The day picked for shooting happened to also be a day that a field trip of children with the Easter Seals Rehabilitation Center were visiting.  And so it became twice the wonderful experience since I also support that charity as well.

Documentary Style of Filming

For me, this was an opportunity to go back to my roots, to a much more tv news, documentary style approach behind the camera. I certainly had fun working on this one while trying not to get in the way of children playing to their hearts content. It certainly is a testament to the staff, volunteers and exhibits at cMoe. Not one of these shots were “staged”, repeated or had to have the kids pretend to be having fun. It was all done very much documentary style in very rapid pace and I tried to be as inconspicuous as possible. While it’s hard to pick a favorite, one of the more memorable shots or moments for me happens about two-thirds of the way into the video.  Look for it around 2:39, when a little girl in boots (and fun skirt), does a cute hop-kick in her excitement to check out all the fun stuff inside the museum.  All the while holding hands with her friends.  It makes me smile every time I watch it.  I hope this promotional video will lead you to check out and support cMoe if you haven’t already.
